Do you care?

If you have chosen to read the blog posts here, CONGRATULATIONS, You Do Care for Malaysia! Please read on to see why you should be congratulated.

It has been a year since the ‘political tsunami’ has happened. I wonder how many people out there like to watch movies, dramas (yes, including You, who is reading this, thank you very much). I don’t really need to go to Cineplex, watch t.v. channels nor play d.v.d.s as I have been getting free, more than enough supply from the mass media on political developments alone in our country. These political developments can really capture your attention (only if you care though). The major difference, however, please ask yourself – are you happy with the ‘entertainment’ - what you see, read or hear??

If you are happy with the ‘entertainment’ happening so far (they are REAL, mind you, not mere fiction), then SHAME ON YOU, or I should be Sorry for you as you are ignorant of the adverse implications from what you have been seeing or hearing.

If you are Not happy – then I thank you for that as this means there is still Hope for the country (in which you and I live in and we will be affected in one way or another) - all of us can make a difference for better!

What will you choose to do about the ‘entertainment’? You can choose to continue your silent reading, seeing, hearing and talking about the political developments in the country – perhaps even enjoying the scenes of how parties of different ideologies fight amongst themselves, finding them Entertaining indeed to your own good. But wait… Do you think what you are seeing/reading/hearing are really ‘good entertainment’? If you think so, I suggest you think again and think harder.

Many times, many people may wish to stop being bombarded with all the ‘political dramas’ and disgusting manoeuvres with selfish political agendas. Perpetrators of these ‘entertainment’ do not seem to ‘wake up’ from their schemes that the ‘Rakyat’ nowadays (especially with the advancement of internet technology) are no longer as ignorant nor as idiotic as thought of before. The more dirty tactics are resorted to, the more ‘turned-off’ people will be and this time (again, thanks or no thanks to the Internet), people may not be as forgetful nor as forgiving anymore as they express accordingly in the ballot boxes. Whatever the justification may be in resorting to any under-handed methods, the end DOES NOT Always justifies the means.

If brain cells can be used creatively to hatch various schemes of bad faith, why not utilize them for the good of the country, for everyone instead? Get your acts together for the sake of the nation’s progress. Remember – Diversity in Unity is Mighty.

If we are all too busy fighting amongst ourselves, wasting away time, effort, resources and opportunities, no one will stand to truly gain all in the end but only to the advantages of our competitors!

Any discerning Voter knows – what would like to be seen are tangible, positive and constructive results. Not the political dramas, the back-stabbing, the pointing of fingers (there can be cases of ‘pot calling kettle black), pushing of blames, opening of cans of worms, mere lip services, etc. All these ‘sizzling plots’ should be left for the creative exploration of artists, not to get in the way of administering our states and country!

People who really care about Malaysia should start doing something constructive in any way can be thought of, not to plot for others’ downfall or to paint others in bad limelight (this applies to ‘all sides’). I do not know about you but I have had enough so far. I have chosen to express myself constructively here in the hope for improvements, not to ‘talk’ only and do nothing.

ALL OF US, can do Something! Talking by itself is an ‘act’, but why not, at least try to say only something positive if you cannot do anything? No, if you think you cannot do anything is not right as well. You and me CAN DO SOMETHING! Whilst we cannot help with what we are seeing or hearing, we can choose to contribute! We can of course choose to ‘ignore’ but that will not solve problems but may make matters worse instead!

Yes, YOU can do something in your small little way, not only to wait until you cast your Vote (if you are eligible) in the next General Election, thinking that you can get ‘someone else’ to do the dirty jobs. You can start by expressing yourself in this blog too.

The greatest fear or ‘disease’ amongst youth in this country – the future generation or ‘tonggak negara’ (backbone of the country), is not whichever political affiliation one has chosen but Public Apathy. This ‘PA’ group may think that the poltical developments do not concern their lives, that they are none of their business, too ‘dirty’ for them or the ‘PA’ group just plainly could not care less. Yet, when public administration system fails, when the justice, enforcement machinery is questionable, when toll rates were hiked, when prices of goods have climbed but salaries and wages are still the same, or worse – jobs are lost – (and this list can go on and on…) even the most ignorant PA group member will finally feel the pinch to react.

So, do you want to wait until matters get worse before you do something? At least, please let your voice be heard! Here is a platform for you to air your grouses healthily and you will do yourself a favour in turn if you can throw in a suggestion or two to solve problems. Better still, please also do yourself a greater favour by volunteering you effort and time into doing things for better! If you are blessed with resources, please contribute for nation-building causes. If you have the knowledge, skills and energy, do support in causes you believe in.

I have chosen to contribute a small bit by blogging, hoping that YOU too will voice out, let our leaders (who, like it or not, are voted to be still in power and able to do or change things, as more and more of you let them know). It does not matter how well you write, or what language you use (be it Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese, Tamil or any other language - if you are willing to share with more people, help them to understand what are your views in the best, most-used medium of language), as long as the message gets across. We all need to be reminded that in ANY political party, there are always good and bad leaders. So, will you encourage more good leaders? I’d say, why not give them a chance to prove what they can do for you, if you care?
