Learn how to lead, Ong tells Beliawanis members

KUALA LUMPUR: Beliawanis members have been told to learn to lead and not lag behind.

MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said members should be more innovative and take proactive steps in their programmes.

“It is important to have a vision. Do not only follow what others do or you will get left behind,” he said after witnessing their swearing-in ceremony and launching their new blog (http://beliawanis.blogspot.com) at Wisma MCA in Jalan Ampang yesterday.

He also urged them to reach out to more youth to join in the Beliawanis programmes.

At a press conference later, Ong said that it was important for youth to be active economically and politically.

“I hope the Beliawanis can be more proactive in venturing into various economic activities,” he said.

He added that it was equally important for them to have political participation.

马华妇女组青年局 盼广招近3万成员

（吉隆坡14日讯）马华妇女组女青年局希望在今年能增收2万8912名新成员！

该局主任郑慧玲指出，今年的目标是在每个支会招收8位35岁以下的女青年，同时也将会到各州和年轻人交流，听取他们对于政经课题的看法。

马华妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬也指出，若女青年局能达到上述的目标，那么未来女青年将占马华妇女组的25%。

她指出，多数人会认为妇女组的党员都是年龄较大，但其实不然，妇女组目前有18.6%的党员是35岁以下。

她说，在这群年轻人的帮助之下，不少的备忘录也是有她们新颖的看法，体现出自己的主张。

开幕人马华总会长拿督斯里翁诗杰也在说，女青年局所提倡的“我有我主张”是应有的态度，因为随波逐流，毫无主张，是不会进步的。

他也希望，女青年能用于接受挑战，尝试往创意的空间开拓，创出一番事业，跳出旧时所局限的框架。
